Greetings fellow ACC football fans. This is a project I have been working on for a few months and I thought you all might be interested. These are not your typical stats and I anticipate completion by the end of this month.

NCAA puts GT on 4 year probation, strips 2009 ACC Title

12

Wow. I'm more shocked that it was this serious and we didnt hear a single word about it. Tech apparently gave, or got someone (booster/cousin) to give, free clothing to Bebe Thomas or Morgan Bennett, and then tried to hide it all. Paul Hewitt has also been implicated, and Tech basketball lost some recruiting days. There are no losses of scholarships in the NCAA penalties. Just to be clear here, just because GT got stripped does not mean we get the title. We did not win the game. The 2009 title will remain vacant in the records.

Cory Stanton to Transfer

I thought he would progress, given BB's teaching ability, into a capable role player here. Its unlikely that he'd become a star with more talent coming in over the next couple years, but this leaves us with no backup for this season.

And via the DF Files 7, we found out how: "Ard. One of your assistant coaches on the 1989 staff told me y'all had been on the road recruiting and prior to that at a convention rumors were swirling that y'all were going to be fired, but that the administration kept giving off signals internally that everything was status quo. When later out on the road recruiting, there was a call for everyone to come back in because the hammer had now fallen. I want to talk about the change or dismissal (Ford 'resigned' on January 18, 1990). At what point was it communicated to you by either Robinson or Max Lennon that you were out? Ford. (Pausing) "I got a letter from Bobby Robinson." Ard. You were notified by way of a letter? Ford. "I got a termination letter from Bobby Robinson, whatever they want to call it. It basically said, 'You've been relieved of your duties as of 5 p.m.' "I kept the letter for a long, long time and kept it in my billfold for many, many years." " Bobby Robinson and Max can both go to Hell.

"Maybe I'm under an illusion, but we generate more money than anybody else in the ACC for football. Biggest stadium. Clemson approaches football kind of like an SEC football team. And I just think we should be very, very competitive every year. To have six guys drafted this year and end up with a 6-7 record, it just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Our draft this year and where our guys were picked was pretty good representation. "You've got to be able to punch people in the mouth. You've got to be able to get a third-and-1 when you need a third-and-1. And you've got to be able to stop a third-and-1. To me, that's where we just come up short. "It's disappointing to see all these other teams winning ACC championships. I truly do not understand it. I went to Boston College last year and watched that thing. It's just embarrassing. There's absolutely no sense that you put the collective recruiting classes together, and we go up there and look like there are six guys interested in playing football. It's hard for me to watch. ...I understand sometimes we'll have off years and sometimes you have some injuries and things. But there's no reason Clemson should be going 6-7. That is absolutely ridiculous....It just seems like we've kind of acquiesced and taken a back seat. And it's just not acceptable, I don't think

I think the program is really at a crossroads right now. Clemson will always be a good, solid program because of the fans and the facilities and the tradition. But I think in the next couple of years, they could really take off or they could remain marginal. Because Clemson is a marginal football program the last 20 years, make no mistake about it. They can make all the changes they want, and the coaches can do all that and recruit and everything. I think the program is in great shape to move forward, but they have to have the administration on the same page. The athletic department is on board, no doubt. But you have to have cooperation from the university administration and the academic side of the house. If they're not totally on board, you're never going to achieve what you want to achieve at Clemson University.

Billy Davis, Safety 1980-1983 In their Own Words: TI Exactly what we've been saying all along, and Whitey Jordan had plenty to say on the lack of toughness up front over the last several years.

I think this football program is at a crossroads. I don't think it's where it used to be. I don't think it's even as good as where Ken Hatfield had it in his first three years. I think it's at a stage where an identity needs to be set. I think too many outside distractions are put up to camouflage the weaknesses. "Yeah, we might have a Top 5 recruiting class. We've been in the Top 10 in recruiting the last six years. But what's in our trophy case? I don't want to hear about we've got four five-stars coming in. I don't want to hear about the best guys in Florida coming in. That's great. I applaud you for recruiting. Now, can you get those guys to win on Saturday?I don't want to hear about 'This is a process,' or, 'These kids have to learn.' Every coach in college, you recruit the guys you want. You get some, you don't. But everybody starts off with a new batch of guys. Now, can you get these guys to play? Give me the bottom line. Give me wins. Give me ACC championships. Give me bigger bowl games. That's what I want. That's what Clemson was when I came to it. "We're not there now. Supposedly we've got the coach that everybody wanted. Great guy, 'All In,' good speaker, charismatic. Now, can you win games? "Clemson is not a physical team. We have no identity. We have some great players. C.J. Spiller was one of the greatest college players ever. Da'Quan Bowers was one of the most physically gifted football players I have ever seen in my life. But guess what? If you can't run the ball and smash somebody in the mouth, you can't win. It's not about having the best players. Clemson has won games before not having the best players. Chris Morocco wasn't one of the Top 100 quarterbacks in the country. DeChane Cameron wasn't one of the Top 100 quarterbacks in the country. Rodney Williams wasn't one of the Top 100 quarterbacks in the country. But you know what? They were winners. They were football players. And that's what Clemson is lacking. Clemson has a lot of great athletes that run fast and jump high. Show me the Ed McDaniels that go to small schools and nobody wants them, but they can come in and become All-Americans. Show me the Rob Bodines, guys that beat all the odds to become great players. We don't have football players. We look good on the outside, but our engine is horrible. We're a Ferrari with a Pinto engine."
