Lakip's suspension length was finally announced and it will be of appropriate length - three games. In fact, if there was more confidence in the back-up kickers, I wouldn't have blamed Coach Swinney if it was even longer. Lakip will miss the Louisville game and then have the bye week to compete with Greg Huegel for the starting spot.
After watching the O-line struggle in short yardage situations, having a black hole at kicker could cost the Tigers a win. Fortunately, Dabo seems pleased with Huegel. Of course, it's always hard to know how seriously to take that kind of talk, but he did say he nailed a 53-yarder to close scrimmage.
It's a bit disappointing to hear Alex Spence unable to make good on the "elite" label that was put on him as a recruit. Instead, we will be relying on a RS freshman walk-on architecture major in Greg Huegel. I hope to see him make the best of his opportunity and best case scenario, do so well that he holds the job even upon Lakip's return.
