All the talk this week has been about Clemson's much anticipated matchup with Georgia this weekend at Sanford Stadium. Here are the latest happenings around the Clemson sports community.
10 college football coaches poised to emerge as hot hires
A lot of talk has been made about Chad Morris possibly getting a head coaching gig sometime down the road. But don't count out Brent Venables. Coach Venables has done a great job at rebuilding the Clemson defense and some think he could be in line for a head coaching job. It would be a huge blow to the program if either Morris or Venables were hired to be head coaches in the next few years.
On a non-football related note, the baseball program has added a former player as a student assistant coach. Not officially sure yet what Harbin's duties will be, but I think one of them should be coaching first base so Coach LeCroy can be in the dugout with the hitters, as well as being the main infield coach so Coach Leggett can focus more on managing the team and have less pressure of also being the infield coach. This is a very under the radar move and hopefully this can be at least a decent upgrade for a downward trending baseball program.
Why are Clemson Tigers being overlooked versus Georgia Bulldogs? - ESPN
We are the underdogs in this matchup for obvious reasons. This article provides a rationale for both sides. The outcome of this game will likely depend on the performance of unknowns from either side.
Clemson basketball opens 2015 ACC slate with North Carolina on ESPN - Post and Courier
The ACC schedule for the Clemson Basketball team was just released. Not going to be easy as our ACC slate starts with UNC. The Tar Heels have owned the Tigers recently so here's to hoping that we can at least make it a competitive game. It should make it a little bit better that this matchup is at home as we are still dealing with that losing streak we all know about in Chapel Hill. Hopefully this team can continue to improve even with the loss of K.J. McDaniels.
The end of Clemsoning? The mindset of Dabo Swinney's program in 2014 - College Football - SI.com
I found the title of this article rather intriguing. This is a debatable question. Personally I still think "Clemsoning" exists but not with the football team (not in recent years). See the baseball team.
