1st day of Drills, and I see entirely too much time spent standing around and some lazy drill technique

I agree with you.

These drills are supposed to make us tougher? How? I did not see anything that looked really difficult. Maybe they did that part while the cameras were not rolling.

Those sled drills they were doing at the end are pretty gut-wrenching, but otherwise yeah it was pretty soft.

I agree with you on that one, but the rest looked soft.

Just wish they weighted that sled down a little more.

what?!

If you think you can gather very useful evaluations as to weather or not the all in drills are productive or the players are standing around to much with bad technique you are crazy. This is the first time they are running the majority of the drills because they change every year. The first day should be more learning so they can learn the proper technique and not stand around being corrected in later drills I liked what I saw with the drills.

hope you are right.

But those drills screamed soft to me.

Might not gather much useful, I agree

but to say those were tough drills or that there was a focus on intensity and conditioning wouldnt be true either.

I’m a coach and I didn’t care for them. The agility and hip flexibility drills I saw there are definitely not new drills every year, nor is the team sled.

Zac Brooks looked fast

It looked like Zac Brooks ran his drills full speed which was awesome. How long until the seniors tell him to slow down so he won’t make them look bad?

Hard to take too much but one thing did bother me

Standing in lines for drills didn’t seem out of the ordinary and the technique wasn’t all that bad save for a few glaring examples from guys who likely won’t see much of the field. The one thing that was pitiful though was watching the O-linemen starting at 3:36, that was so soft I wish I could wipe my ass with it. No explosion or power behind those jabs and the expression on their faces was not comforting.

I agree

seems to be no fire from the OL whatsoever ……

Umm..are they slapping the pad then clapping their hands?

Is this drill supposed to improve wrist dexterity or something? What the…I don’t even…what in the hell is that supposed to be for. None of those guys are coming off with any force, not to mention they are practically standing up.

I would think the clap is for

making sure that you have to get your hand position right every time, rather than maintaining the same hand position for the entire drill.

I get that

but the form of how these guys are going through the drills, along with intensity level, looks like a walk through at best to me. Hopefully the intensity will increase as spring gets closer.

Shocker!! Clemson Olinemen fat and lazy?? Say it ain't so...

I’d be shocked if I actually saw them doing anything productive. I’ve been so upset over the last decade at our OL. They are continually fat, lazy, and pushovers.

And just saw where crap-ass Batson got a raise to $200k!!! I wish I could do a terrible job year in and year out and keep getting raises. Must be nice.

Batsons' S&C was exposed in the Orange Bowl

as well as most of last season . As a matter of fact , his S&C has been exposed ever since he came to Clemson . Does it take another decade of pussification on the OL and DL to get another S&C coach ? 200k is completely outrageous for this clown .
