Big game tonight, between two desperate teams

Miami has some very tough bigs, if we are to do anything we need to be able to get the ball inside then back out for some good jump shots. Lets hope the team became prepared for a fight, and the need to win.

Giving up too many easy transition layups.

Defense is getting lazy. Freshman are in (Sapp, Hall) and they are not adding anything on either side of the court, and upperclassmen are taking bad passes and shots. You can not play like this. You can not play like this and expect to win at all. This team needs to find some level of manhood, and just play.

As Tanner turns it over AGAIN

by TigerFan74 on Jan 18, 2012 7:18 PM EST via mobile reply actions

Made up 4 with a 3. If he cld just cut down on TOs. He sure is a hustler

by TigerFan74 on Jan 18, 2012 7:19 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Only TS and Andre Young hustle at all

If I was in their situation I’d be going insane watching Booker, Narcisse, Jennings lollygag down the court

BB's answer for this is to put Bobo in?

Serious? Does he have no faith in anything on this team? Bobo will not be able to bang bodies tonight, Miami is to big for us. This team needs more effort. Move the ball around, take good shots, and get back on defense. Don’t worry about the shot you put up or the next.

Huge problem for us is rushing shots

by TigerFan74 on Jan 18, 2012 7:20 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Very true

Something I noticed in the 1st half of the Duke game once we got up. Team thinks it can do anything, real life sets in and then confidence is gone.

After game BB said once crowd got into it, kids got excited, quit running offense, & started heaving up 3s. And it cost us

by TigerFan74 on Jan 18, 2012 7:26 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

I read that as well. Sad

I do believe

BB will have success here, he just doesnt have the horses this yr. We’ll b fine after he gets couple his recruiting classes n there

by TigerFan74 on Jan 18, 2012 7:24 PM EST via mobile reply actions

I agree that once he starts having sucess similar to OP

He will be able to bring in some big named players and will have some sucess. But the cupboard is not bare right now. Its not as if there isn’t talent on this team. I am completely unable to determine why we are incapable of using the talent we have for anything. Have the juniors just checked out that much, are they just not that good? What gives?

I chalk it up to lack of leadership on the blocks.

Devin and Milton just don’t exude (or instill) a lot of confidence, and I’m not sure I would look up to them or want to play with them. They play like they’re on the court for themselves and not the team.
Andre is the closest thing Clemson has to a real leader, but he can only do so much…

by matchless on Jan 18, 2012 7:52 PM EST up reply actions

Agreed, Milton & Devin both leave a lot 2 b desired….

by TigerFan74 on Jan 18, 2012 8:15 PM EST via mobile up reply actions

Getting out rebounded 12-3 with 7 left in the 1st.

That is never good. The team is not taking good choices on when to shoot.

And tie game at 29

Big three pointers to get us back. Team now needs to do start dishing below and trying to get good underneath shots.

Tanner forces a good foul and drops the layup

Lets hope we can get the coveted 3 point play

This is depressing

At least there is no one at this game

Welp...

Only down by 3 at the half is not bad. I was hoping they would put a deuce in right before the buzzer, but oh well.

by matchless on Jan 18, 2012 7:57 PM EST reply actions

At the half we are down 39-42

Team worked its way back into it, due to Tanner Smith TRYING. Good lord this team just doesn’t have any wind in its sails when on the road. Coach BB is going to need to push these kids to get this win, Miami is going to bring it’s Bigs back on the court to start the 2nd half and we will not be able to counter this

COME ON!

Stop with the 3s, Devin! I would bench him every time he took that shot. I guess Brownell gives him the OK to jack it up…otherwise he would have stopped by now.

by matchless on Jan 18, 2012 8:15 PM EST reply actions

He must hit it in practice

I’ve heard he dominates whenever the team plays horse

by PenthouseTiger on Jan 18, 2012 8:18 PM EST up reply actions

A 3 pointer before the shot clock gets to 15.

Anyone else think we have confidence issues?

Wish I could see this game

but I’m too cheap to pay for more than basic channels and it’s blacked out on ESPN3

Same here.

Following game tracker yet again.

Well if you would like, I can give you synopsis

Tanner, Andre, Bobo, and freshmen are running the floor. Booker and Jennings have found a concession stand that serves some pretty good chicken sandwiches. Miami is actually a pretty good team, but they aren’t playing to their best potential. As I wrote that last sentence they sink an open 3 pointer.

Yeah, but these are some pretty dank chicken sandwiches

They brought some back to the bench to share. TV timeout for all!

Tigers are 10/15 from the free throw stripe.

A ton better than sundays game

Bobo runs down the court and gets a good shot up after getting no call fouled

Team needs to be getting more defensive rebounds. We need to be containing those to extend a lead. BTW we are up 62-59…

Don't give up, don't ever give up ~ Jim Valvano

by AParker on Jan 18, 2012 8:38 PM EST reply actions

I saw no foul on that.

Great D by Bobo and goof help by Jennings

by D'Arve21 on Jan 18, 2012 8:39 PM EST reply actions

Miami went 4 minutes without field goal

Then drops a 3 at the buzzer to get within 1. They just got a foul and have taken the lead on both FTs. Bobo is playing big and is abusing their big. We need someone to be able to make its own shot

Haha

I know what you mean. It was tough to watch the CofC and Coastal games in person this year.

by matchless on Jan 18, 2012 8:51 PM EST up reply actions

I could have never done that.

Would have gotten in a fight or begin yelling at the players on how much I would have done with a free education from Clemson.

This sucks feel like we are

Back to thinking we are a football only school which we aren’t that good at that

LIKE STUPID PILLS SERIOUSLY STUPID PILLS WHO DOES THIS KIND OF CRAP

IF YOU DON"T WANT TO PLAY TURN THE JERSEY IN. THERE ARE PLENTY OF KIDS IN FIKE WHO WOULD KILL TO BE ABLE TO PLAY FOR THE TIGERS

by AParker on Jan 18, 2012 8:57 PM EST up reply actions

Wow.

Devin just doesn’t demand the rock like Trevor did. I noticed this in the FSU game (I believe) where he got it down low 1 on 1 and he passed the rock to Jennings in the corner. Look, Devin. Get your moves on a posterize that guy. Sheesh! He does not want the ball unless he’s got a clear lane to the rim.

by matchless on Jan 18, 2012 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

We knew this was going to be a tough year,

But it would be much easier to accept if they would just suck all the time. The worst is when they show up and care about the game and play well (FSU, Winthrop). Then, they follow it up with a game like the BC game.

There is something to be said for consistency, and consistency is something Clemson Athletics has been lacking for some time…

by matchless on Jan 18, 2012 8:57 PM EST reply actions

Booker is a joke

Why do we complain in football and blame the coaches but blame the players in basketball brownell needs to dig in booker and jennings ass

by Clemfan on Jan 18, 2012 8:58 PM EST via Android app reply actions

We don't. If BB is unable to inspire these kids but keeps playing them then its his fault.

Play the 5 best players who PLAY, and PLAY TOGETHER. That is something that is missing on this team right now. Pull those guys, force them to grow up on the bench and play the young ones and get the experience for the future.

Don't give up, don't ever give up ~ Jim Valvano

by AParker on Jan 18, 2012 9:00 PM EST up reply actions

It's way easier to blame the players

when there are only 5 out there at a time instead of 11. But I don’t think we yell about Devin and Milton any more than we yell about lazy football players like McClain

by PenthouseTiger on Jan 18, 2012 9:03 PM EST up reply actions

Down by 1 with 5 seconds left.

Tanner just threw up a prayer and Milton was there to put it in. Good lord. My heart.

Loss 73-76

Tanner turns it over on late recognition on how open Andre Young was.

I’ll be out of the country the next few games so someone else will hopefully be on here to live blog and keep me up to date when I check in at random times. Lets hope we can turn it around

Don't give up, don't ever give up ~ Jim Valvano

Glad I didn't witness that.

I wouldn’t have expected any less. This feels a lot like the years 2-3 of OP. Losing close games. I believe there is a light though. Players never seemed to progress while OP was at Clemson, but last year I saw things out of Jerai he hadn’t been doing for 3 years. I believe BB and/or his assistants are good coaches. Andre Young has shown an ability to attack on a break or from a set recently. Makes me sick to think about how good someone like KC Rivers or Sharrod Ford could have been with 4 years of BB.
