Want to know the difference between Clemson's Defense and Alabama's?
here are the depth charts for each team and its the damnest thing I've seen. Either alabama is shooting testosterone or they are recruiting kids straight from Judges 16. I looked at LSU's depth chart and it is nearly identical to clemson in height and weight.
They run a base 3-4 and bigger linebackers in the middle are usually necessary but 270lbs?! Obviously a well coached team but they are playing with varsity players and everyone else is jv. You'll also notice only juniors and seniors start on the defense
These opinions are not necessarily those of the Proprietors of Shakin' The Southland.

The best players go to the best place to play
Alabame has won 2 of the last 3 championships.
The biggest, baddest, and best will be going there again.
I've never seen a D with that size speed combo
Even Miami’s D with Sean Taylor and Wilfork had undersized guys (albeit studs) like Vilma and a couple others..
I mean the only person that could even remotely be considered undersized is Gentry, and he’s knows the definition of the word “leverage”. However, they will be suffering massive losses on D this offseason, I foresee at least 4 of those jr’s leaving early(Kilpatrick, Hightower, Square, and possibly Lester).. and with those 5 or 6 contributing seniors.

That D could win games in the pros
Not against the Green Bays or the New Orleans’s, but they could hold their own against some of the lesser NFL offenses.
Here is an lol-worthy stat...
Alabama gave up 106 points through all 13 of their games this year. 106 total points. Clemson gave up 70 in one game. That’s the main difference between our two defenses I would say.
Nick Saban is quotes as saying his defense is “hateful”. He yells at them in practice when they slow down because they are hurt or injured! Our defensive needs to become hateful. Dabo probably offers them some ben gay and a hot towel if they cramp up. He needs to rub their face in the mud and scream at the R. Lee Ermey style.
Bama and LSU both have Moffitt-disciples
Cochran came from LSU, and both came from John Curtis HS in La.
Add to that the training table, and you’ll see tremendous weight gains without losing as much speed because of the condition they stay in.
Whereas at Clemson our guys get fatter during a season.
has there been any movement on a possible training table?
that, along with replacing Batson with a Moffitt clone would do wonders for us all by itself.
Ok so I get the Batson/BOT connection now
After seeing some of the comments on other posts. But isn’t it becoming glaringly obvious that something has to change with our S&C?
Also, a few people on this site seem to have clear fundamental knowledge of strength training and the guys (and the disciples of the guys) that have shown proven success wherever they go. Is this common knowledge in the coaching ranks? For instance if I walk up to Dabo today and say “Hey have you heard of this Gayle Hatch or Tommy Moffit guy?” would he know what I am talking about? I’m just wondering if these type guys are just hard to come by or if our braintrust just doesn’t have a clue at all..

email this link to them. They should be able to spend 200k/y on a top shelf guy.
How often do they clean and snatch and why.
Why on earth do they flip tires instead of cleaning a barbell?
How much standing overhead (military press, push press, jerk) work is done?
How much volume do they do during the season?
To his credit, I think he help develop the prowler which is a useful conditioning tool for big players
I’ll post more as they come to me
further...
As the CEO of the s&c program I would like to think Batson oversees the operation and its results as a whole instead of leading the daily training. The question would be, does he let the assistants train their athletes as they see fit (and then evaluate the results of that group) or does he dictate the training style (e.g., can an assistant coach institute an olympic lifting based program for his group or will he be forced to make them bench press with chains) ?
I’d like to see the difference in training between olympic sports and football program too
