Bryce McNeal Decides to Transfer
Pretty much as we heard this weekend. McNeal decided he didn't want to practice last week and sat out the game Saturday for "personal reasons" = I wasn't getting enough PT.
Clemson, SC - Clemson wide receiver Bryce McNeal has decided to leave the Clemson football program, but will remain in school as a student. The sophomore had played in the first three games, one as a starter and had one reception for eight yards.
"Bryce has decided to leave the team, but will remain in school with plans to graduate this summer," said Head Coach Dabo Swinney. "He plans to attend another school and play football in 2012. Graduating in three years will be quite an accomplishment.
"Bryce has been a fine representative of the Clemson program and we hoped he would remain with the team. But, he wants to fully concentrate on his studies so he can graduate this summer. We wish him the best and will help him any way we can."
McNeal played in 12 of the 13 games last year as a red-shirt freshman and started three games. He had 19 receptions for 187 yards for the course of the season. He had his best game at Boston College last year when he had four receptions for 43 yards. He added 3-33 receiving in Clemson’s 14-13 win over NC State.
He can transfer to any D1 school if he graduates this summer, without losing eligibility.
Clemson has gone back on WR Quinshad Davis as a result.

When do you think Davis will committ?
He has to like how the WR’s are used in this offense.
"Clemson is coming!" - Stephone Anthony
He seems to understand that we cooled on him because of numbers
hopefully it doesn’t hurt our chances.
In all honesty, why would Quinshad want to come here?
We’ve already got Hopkins, Watkins, Jaron, Peake, Martavias, Joe Craig, Adam Humphries, and Steckler here. And Germone Hopper and Zac Brooks coming in. Thats 10 WR. He has to know he’s going to get zero playing time until maybe his redshirt senior year if he does come here.
Dabo needs to concentrate on the lines, OL and DL. We need help there badly!!
He's probably better than
Jaron, Craig, Steckinger, and Humphries. Maybe he redshirts his first year, but he’d probably be in the 2-deep as a redshirt freshman.

He's better than those guys for sure.
Steck will be a B. Ford type of TE.
Compare Craig to Davis is no comparison at all. I saw them on the same field.
Zac Brooks is a RB, not a WR.
I dont know why people have such a difficulty with this.
You see AE split out as a WR, this offense needs a back that can be motioned out. However, he’s a RB first and foremost.
Why didn't McNeal just play out the season? What does he gain by quitting now?
He doesn’t gain eligibility. He doesn’t gain the ability to take a heavier course load this semester. He loses the ability to work out with the team, improve his body, and gain experience. It seems like quitting would hurt his ability to get a schollie elsewhere.
Bad move , I agree .
Besides , he isn’t what I would call a " hot commodity " as a collegiate receiver either . I wish him well , but I don’t see any D1 teams having much interest , but I may be wrong .
I would assume
He’s trying to avoid getting hurt for a team he doesn’t want to be on, or maybe he’s getting so few reps in practice that he doesn’t feel like it’s worth it.

McNeal is going to grad school
To Transfer he has to be admitted to a graduate degree program at his new school. He has to take a heavy load to graduate and have the grades he needs to get in to grad school.
It's too late to add classes for the fall
He’ll just be taking a heavy load in the spring and summer.

If he has left the team
Is he better able to make visits, talk to coaches, do whatever he wants in that regard?
