Clemson is (still) the Second Place ACC Team in '09

PrintGeorgia Tech was recently informed that it will forfeit games from the end of the 2009 season. Among those games was the ACCCG against Clemson. Here is my take on the whole thing from a Clemson perspective. First off, they gave out shirts and watches. Net sum is around $350. The NCAA has no business hammering GT for less than four C-notes when they allow others to solicit $200K plus. I would wager that you could find $400 worth of cheating at every school in America, thus I think GT's punishment is excessive. Tell me Duke and North Carolina defensive ends basketball players don't get extra benefits and I'll tell you you're full of shit.
Anyway, the idiot portion of the Clemson fanbase went ahead and claimed victory and an ACC Championship over this crap. First off, these people are complete dumb asses and should lose computer privileges. Clemson had every chance in the world to win that game/championship and, subsequently, failed. Georgia Tech won and they will be the champions because, well, they are the champions. We had plenty of chances to beat them in Tampa. We let them convert long third downs, Scott Blair kicked well, and we just couldn't get it done despite a great effort from C.J. Spiller. Point is, we lost. Georgia Tech earned that championship and for any Clemson fan to claim it as our own is disgraceful.
Point of the story: If "This means Clemson is the 2009 ACC Champions" ever came out of your mouth in the past couple days, you are an idiot.

well, the defense broke down pretty badly the last several games of that year.
including the South Carolina game. We won a few games in spite of the defense, but don’t forget how bad our linebackers were.

I hope the fans that are claiming the title for Clemson are just doing it tongue-in-cheek to get a rise out of nerds and chickens. This whole thing just illustrates how f’d up the NCAA is now. Cam is immediately cleared, Ohio St. is allowed to play inelegible players in the bowl game, but GT gets busted for this crap? I agree and sympathize with the former GT players who have spoken out about this bullshit.

I think the punishment was more to do with GT's level of (non) cooperation
than the seriousness of the “crimes”. Jeez, if that was enough to revoke a title, no one would have a title.
As for the championship, they won the game. We didn’t. We do not get the trophy, or the record, because we did not win the game.
Let’s get our first title in forever by kicking the crap out of some opponent on the field .

I've already posted my feelings about this earlier.
It just makes me sick watching petty Clemson fans who think that if we could claim that championship, that we should even want it. I want an ACC championship of our own that we actually WON!
