Around SBN: Roy Nelson Willing to Pay for His Next Opponent's Drug Test

"It (confidence) comes from Tajh," receiver DeAndre Hopkins said. "Everybody thought last year that Tajh should’ve had more opportunities to lead this team. Now that he’s out there, guys feel comfortable with him. Off the field, we get along with the quarterback very well. It’s more of a team thing than last year it feels like on the offensive side."

Via Heather Dinich, which supports the rumors we heard about KP not having the full support of the team because of his attitude (re: already being paid well) about football.

In fairness, even up until the SC game I did not believe Boyd was ready to play a full game. The lack of coaching was evident in his play (and Parker's).

The problem with Parker and baseball

Is that the guy gave up nearly a million bucks to come back and play football.

So while it seems like maybe his heart wasn’t in it, or his mind wasn’t in it, I don’t think he would give up that kind of cash if he didn’t really REALLY want to do it.

Think about that. $800k, down the tubes, just to come play football again.

I know that

but the sense that he had already made it big makes it easier to give up when things go bad.

I think his heart was definitely in it at first

But when he took that hit in the Auburn game, he wished he had gone to play baseball.

Neither Kyle, nor the Parkers, nor the Rockies confirmed the rumor that KP gave up $800k (or any significant money) to play football.

It makes no sense that KP would have given up $800k to return to football (since 6’0 QBs rarely make it to the NFL unless they are stellar, Heisman-esque QBs on national-contender teams). I consider that rumor be unsubstantiated BS that was widely repeated by Dabo and the sycophantic press to pump up the fans. Whenever Kyle or any of the Parkers was asked directly about it whether KP turned down money to return to football, they were always evasive.

When I read Heather Dinnich’s article last week it confirmed in my mind what I think we all saw last season. The team and the coaches didn’t much like or respect Kyle Parker.

I think it would have been a major disaster to have played Tajh for an extensive period last year now that I think on it.

1. Tajh would have replaced Parker near permanently, losing Kyle for the season, basically. Mentally, if not physically even earlier than he actually did.
2. Tajh would have gained some bad habits to unlearn by having to play so much with so little positive coaching. There’d be a lot of “rah-rah”, and very little physical and mental improvement. Now he can start from scratch with the new OC and learn it right.
3. The team might have given up on Tajh since he would likely not have done any better than Parker in terms of getting wins. That would make it necessary this offseason to backtrack not just bad habits, but also to remove the lack of trust in him.

Last season was a totally wasted season and throwing Boyd into it would only have made it worse for our prospects this season and beyond. The Dabier experiment was an abject failure that took the uproar over last season to (hopefully) correct.

Duh, Losing

Every player gets an opinion on why they were losing games.

I’m sure Hopkins and the rest of the WRs caught some s%^& in the locker room as well.

Do you think this confirms that Dabo lost the team at the end of last year?

When you think about it though...

Who was really performing on our offense last year? Kicking was horrific, WR play outside of Hopkins was awful, TEs were invisible, O-line blew hot and cold, we had a pussy at RB and our QB didn’t have his heart in it. I guess Diehl is a good player but we rarely ran out of the I so he didn’t have a ton of chances.

They all deserved to catch shit for the shower of shit that was served up last year. I guarantee you this, Kyle was not getting any shit from the coaches until the season totally went down the shitter.
