RB Demont Buice Decides to Transfer
Clemson freshman RB Demont Buice, one of the more questionable takes from Alabama, has decided to leave the football team and transfer away today.
"We hate to see Demont leave our program," said Swinney. "We were pleased with his progress, but he wants more immediate playing time so he will transfer at the end of the semester. We have granted him a release and wish him the best."
After a good spring game performance there was hope he could be a short yardage back in this system, but in truth he is not well-suited to it and is just too slow to be an every down back in the offense. His lack of PT led him to contemplate transferring since August, and this opens up a scholarship spot for another recruit.

I would use his scholarship
for a DL/OL or Quinshad Davis. We have Zac Brooks coming in and that will give us 4 RB’s. We need to build depth on the OL and DL.

Brooks will be more of a WR at Clemson
Although in Morris’s offense I’m sure he’ll take some handoffs.
I wish him the best.
Would not be surprised if more followed for the same reason.

I was wondering about this guy
But since he has not seen the field it didn’t look promising.
I wonder who is next – Justin Parker? He is definitiely missing in action.
I hope Parker sticks around because I think he can be a good one.
But that is a crowded position with all of the talent we have brought in.

Yea, all we heard all spring long was how "the light has come on for Parker"
yet he rarely ever sees the field. What a big disappointment he’s been so far. Hope he can turn it around. But if he can’t beat out Hawkins right now, he’ll never really get the chance with Steward and Anthony maturing.
Even against BC?
I thought we would be able to play more of our base D against teams like BC who run pro style attacks.
Because BC went 3-wide most of the time.
Steele apparently still prefers to matchup Brewer on the slot than walk out Willard or Christian.
Kinda wish we could have at least him on a couple short yardage situations..
just so we could know what we’re losing. You hear about us starting to run outta schollies for this year and this opens up one for us…Hopefully we can close strong and swipe some big time recruits. Gotta admit that last year spoiled me.. we are ranked close to the top ten right now in recruiting and Im kinda disappointed. lol
Strangely enough I know what you mean...
Even though we’re near the top 10, I find myself getting dissapointed that we haven’t drawn a 5 star yet. However, pulling that many 4 stars with the talent we have, in theory, we should be ok.

FSU's recruiting is pissing me off lol
We need to go down there and steal what they are proving they dont know how to use! Maybe I’d be the worst recruiter in the world.. but I think I give these Fsu commits an attitude.. “You’re gonna have to come to Death Valley anyway..its your choice whether you wanna win or not!”
That's funny!
I think FSU will get it together, but they put a lot into the games with OK and us, and when those did not pan out, their guys realized that most of their goals went down the drain. They won’t win the NC, and they probably won’t win the Atlantic, so where do you go from there?

Hope we get Watkins.
If we can get him and keep the current commits then this class will fill most of our needs and we will be in position to have a monster class next year.

I think the push for Davis started when McNeal left.
This is pure speculation, but I think we will either take elite guys this year, or save the scholly and try to have a top 5 class next year. My impression is that the guys signing this year have already gravitated toward certain schools, while next year’s class is still impressionable. Because of that, our current winning streak will not help much with this class, but will help a lot with next year’s class.

Agreed
I believe we’ll hold this scholarship for 2013. We really don’t seem to be persuing anyone besides Davis, Watkins, Bullard(to a lesser extent), and Brown as a last resort.
Makes me sick to read where Watkins' coach said he wants to play in the SEC.
I do not dispute that their are some great programs in that conference, but I think a lot of what we see today is a product of espn hyping them every chance they get. Also, CSN has a segment called “talkin football” which is 75 percent sec football, and then they have another segment called “talkin sec football”, which basically is like the other segment, except they leave out the acc. I can’t even watch that channel anymore, because it is one big proverbial secbj.
You can’t spell “cheats” without s-e-c.

Clemson hasn't been going hard after Davis
Davis said he hasn’t really heard from Clemson since his visit and Bryce McNeal’s transfer.
Really?
Thought for sure that with McNeal leaving we would go for Davis much stronger. Is it becuase of the depth we have at WR? Or is it that Clemson is saving the scholarship or just not that high on Davis?
No word yet
possibly saving for Mike Williams next year. They have not wratcheted up pressure yet.
We still dont have an open spot. Buice leaving only opens the spots for the ones we have committed already.
how many schollys do we have left now?
and what positions are we looking to fill, I would expect everything on the offense to be filled up with the exception of O-line, you can never have enough of those, I would expect another D-line to be taken or will this be a dabo being dabo taking a chance on someone
We can sign 21, we are at 18.
This assumes no more transfers and no Juniors leave for the draft. Davis would be the only reach at WR. Could still take an OT, but probably save rest of schollys for defense. JMO.

Technically we have no open spots
We had to lose guys to just take the ones we have committed already in August.
But we will oversign and a couple more will leave.
