Dorman WR/DB Adam Humphries commits to Clemson
Adam Humphries, a 5'11 176lb (4.55 40') WR/S from Dorman High in Spartanburg, committed to Clemson after receiving his offer on an unofficial visit to campus last week. He was recruited by Jeff Scott, who has the Spartanburg-Gaffney-Rock Hill upstate area for us in recruiting.
Clemson coaches think he's another Tyler Grisham, who I thought was a good tough player, but I would not have offered this guy. His only other offer as of now is Wofford. I have seen Humphries play, several times in all and twice last year. I do not think he's even the 2nd best WR on Dorman's team. I didn't recognize him as a good DB either. Nothing he did impressed me. Jeff Scott needs to have his damn head examined, but remember the entire offensive staff now sees a player before he's offered.
This offer isnt even going to bring us Charone Peake, as he's had us as his leader for quite some time. I thought we were in good standing with other top recruits Quan Bray and Tacoi Sumler (though we have cooled some on Sumler) and we had a chance with some others. We all know that WR is a key position this year in recruiting, so why bring in someone who doesn't have the talent to compete?
If Clemson wants to compete with the big boys, then we have to recruit the next-level athletes. Bringing in one of these types every year keeps us from building that talented depth we've lacked.
I don't get this one.

Add Gerald Orta, SS from Lowndes Valdosta GA
6’0 180lb, I’m thinking he’s the last DB/CB take on this class unless somebody big comes our way as an oversign, or we lose Ellerbe to UNC.
I’m hearing he’s very good but I’m going to wait til i see film.
This is a Daniel Andrews Jamie Harper type deal
If he turns into half of what Tyler did for us I’ll be happy
If youre in little danger of losing Peake, then its not
its just a wasted scholarship. Everyone, even those at Dorman I know, say that hes heavy Clemson.
Only a shitty job by Jeff Scott can screw this up.
Very disappointing
Clemson is on the radar with so many high profile recruits this cycle that it is frustrating to see us getting commitments from unknowns.
I don't understand this offer
If you are going to offer, why offer this early? Why not focus on Peake, Bray, and Sumler (or Morris) as your WR recruits?
Orta’s a better prospect, but why no interest from FSU, Auburn, Georgia, or Georgia Tech?
The staff’s inexperience level is showing….
size i think
I reserve my opinion on Orta until i see more film, but he’s kinda thin

Ard is reporting Mike Bellamy to Clemson
Big time pickup.
Well, how many were excited when Tyler Grisham committed?
How many were excited when Chad Diehl committed? I agree that on the surface it looks as though we wasted a scholrship, but down the road you might be greatful the staff saw something that no one else did. I am not terribly excited about this commit, but I also have to trust the staff.

There must be some reason
You do have to wonder if Wofford is the only other offer.
What are the chances that he is overlooked by everyone?
Would we really use 2 scholarships to land one player?
We can only hope they see a lot of development potential here. And it’s not like we haven’t landed more than a few stars who did not end up shining.

Every schollie cant be a stud
With the caliber recruits we’ve been securing or still have strong interest in us, I think Clemson can afford to take a chance here and there. Scott obviously saw something in this kid that fit their system and felt he deserves a chance. Consider some of previous “high profile” wideout prospects that proved not worth the schollie…this move wont hurt that much.
Yes.
Tyler Grisham and Rendrick Taylor signed the same year, and which one had the best career? I think Rendrick Taylor was the victim of horrible luck and the injury bug, but still, who thought Grisham would end up making the largest impact between the two of them?
