Center Ryan Norton commits to Clemson

Mauldin's Ryan Norton (6'4, 275, 5.1 40'), considered the best Center prospect in the state of S.C., has committed to Clemson. He graded out over 93% as a junior and is in zero danger of not qualifying. He has offers from Georgia Tech, NC State, Maryland, Illinois, and Sakerlina. His recruiter of record is Andre Powell, but he had significant exposure to Brad Scott. He should be the only interior lineman we take in this class, I know they were looking to take only one Center, with the rest as Tackles.

Scout rates him at 3-stars, the #14 C nationally.

Its not really a surprise, his grandfather is a Clemson alum.

TNet has the quotes.

"Tonight, I just had that gut feeling that I wanted to ahead and commit because Clemson is just the best fit for me. Coach Swinney was very excited and welcomed me into the Clemson family."

Norton said that being able to make such a huge decision with family and friends around made it even better.

"They were all excited," he said. "They knew I really liked Clemson and they were all congratulating me and stuff. I wanted to go ahead and commit now because from now on I just want to focus on my team, and I don’t want anything else on my mind. But I am very excited to be a Clemson Tiger."

From the little film of him that I've seen, he appears to have very good hip flexibility and stays low, and is a powerful run blocker.

Brad Scott

Don’t worry, Brad Scott will have this guy playing guard as soon as he gets on campus. Who needs centers or tackles? We need a 5th backup at right guard!

Ard on Korncoots jab at TI on his site:

It is indeed a jab at TI.

This – my friends – is why we have for years denoted “as first reported” in our articles. We don’t have a choice. This man goes out of his way to do this garbage. He’s done it for years. And the reason why is because we have been beating his ass to death on stories the last decade.

BTW… I believe this guy set a record for pissing off a coaching staff at Clemson. Took him all of one month to get on Brad Brownell’s shit list. And make no mistake people, he’s on it. I promise you.

Isn't there any way Clemson can file a protest with the paper he works for? Maybe even request his firing, or sue?

He’s crossed the line mutlitple times between reporting and making the news. Of course no one could ever make a case for him being unbiased, but you usually get promoted instead of fired for that at a news agency. That’s why I and others mention ESPN as BSPN.

Cant prove things

thats the problem. Its like perjury: you need definite evidence that he lied with malicious intent.

And then what? he still has freedom of speech and can say w/e he pleases, you have to prove that it caused harm financially.

All Clemson can really do is blackball him and strip his credentials for CU press events.

The best thing people can do is to stop visiting his website.

I will, and not only because of this, but because it has basically become the free Gamecock recruiting website. Very liittle about Clemson on there these days.

There is something in these Hills!

I do think that he should have his credentials pulled, and be blackballed.

As for a court case, its maybe a 50-50 proposition, as you could say his intent is proved through a long history of prior articles against CU. The financial impact is that without that recruit, as blocked by Ole Miss, we would have an arguably lesser chance of making and advancing in the postseason, as we have one less player to improve with.

But whatever, just make sure he is known as persona non grata to anyone that matters, and maybe refer it to the NCAA as maybe that will at least embarrass him and his paper.

TI

Korn____ is not the only one who needs his credentials pulled from CU press conferences.

I wouldnt be suprised to see him at guard considering freeman looks to be a lock at center

by cooper37 on Jun 3, 2010 8:17 PM EDT reply actions

and shifting there is no big deal

just dont shove him to tackle with a guard’s body, which I wouldnt put beyond Brad to do.

Freeman will be a RS Soph this fall. This guy wont be in school til 2011 when Freeman is a RS Jr. He’ll almost certainly redshirt his first year, so he can be ready to step in at 2nd-C as a RS Freshman when Freeman is a Senior.
