Laurence Gibson possible decommit

This is why I dont follow recruiting til this time of year, this stuff will drive you nuts.

Apparently Gibson told the staff he was committed and told other media outlets he was too (there are direct quotes), but went back home and said he didnt commit, soon to be released on VT's rivals site, so we'll see what he says.

Watson still says he has cancelled his visit to UNC.

Edit: Gibson changes his commitment to VT. Looks like the mom pressured the change, same comments to VT that he gave to us. Quality kid.

This is what happens with 18 year old kids

Unfortunately for us, it is hard to bank on someone being at your school until you see a signature and the fax is recieved. It sounds like he really liked Clemson but probably got some pressure when he returned to VA from his visit (and probably had a chat with VT, who has obviously been recruiting him hard).

There is still a lot that can happen between now and signing day…let’s hope the staff can hold onto the guys who are currently committed and pick up a few more to fill this class (we have extra schollies because of transfers and signed a small class last year)

quotes to Clemson

“Just talking with the head coach Dabo Swinney everything went well. It really felt good. In comparing it to all the other schools I just knew it was the right place for me.”

“I chose it over all the other schools that offered me including Virginia Tech and Auburn, who were No. 2 and No. 3 for me,” he said. “I like everything about Clemson, mostly the atmosphere and environment.”

“We were at coach Swinney’s house and I told him this is where I want to be, Coach Swinney and coach Pearman were both real happy. Their families were too. They both are good guys.”

“They are getting someone who will show up to play,” the tackle concluded. “I’m going to work as hard as I possibly can. I’m not going to stop working hard just because I got this. I’m going to keep working even harder.”

quotes to VT

“I’m not committed right now,” Gibson firmly stated. “I tried to make it as clear as I could to Clemson that I had to talk to my family and especially my mom first before I could make any sort of decision.I told Clemson I really liked the school. I told them I would go there, but I need to talk to my mom and coaches first. I think they thought I said I was definitely going there and there’s a difference.”

“I don’t want this to go down like I’m saying something bad about Clemson, it was just a misunderstanding. I wanted to get it cleared up. I liked a lot of things about the visit there. The town it’s in and the environment there. I love the strength and conditioning program and the strength coaches. They have a lot of new techniques and technology and they take it seriously there. I really like their school and those coaches are good guys. They are family oriented. I like Coach Swinney. He seems like he really cares about football players and his family and seems like a good guy. I may try to take two other visits if I have time to, but I’m not sure where. I believe I don’t have to finalize anything until January.”
